WHY and WHEN should you FEED a newly turfed LAWN?
In today's video, I talk about why and when is best to feed a newly turfed lawn.
This lawn was turfed around 6 weeks ago and it's now due its first feed. But it's not about feeding the plant, it's about feeding the soil. If you get the soil right, you'll get your grass right.

Hi noticed the shrubs on the back wall are suffering. Highly recommend Westland all purpose fertiliser to kick them into gear. Also the wall causes the soil to dry out quickly so would recommend wood chips as mulch to help stop weeds and keep moisture levels. If the shrubs die this year recommend planting Laurel from bare root in the autumn. Grass is looking beautiful by the way. Keep up the good work.

Honestly, for the size of your lawn and lack of Sun it’s obvious this will be better and hold up better in the winter. If you had a massive lawn like the ones Dan Hibbet does, then rye grass would be the best. Your bottom lawn with the bent fescue looks like it’s going to be less muddy than yours the year before.

Gardens looking great. Congratulations. Get on the dog rocks! You may remember - I have an Allett 17”. Brilliant machine. The verticutter cartridge is awesome. And I would recommend it. The scarifying cartridge is great too. But given the cost of it. I would recommend the first over the second. The second hand market is worth a check too. I bought a spare 6 blade cartridge for half the price of new. I tried my Sumi-soaker for the first time today. As per your previous film. And yes I used your code. Great piece of kit - the actual “hose”. Delivers water in a really good pattern. And I was really impressed with the performance. And I’m running it at the full 50m. The reel is a bit disappointing and could have been better - the handle needed some thread lock. And the guides are pretty useless. Far better to use your hand to keep it all aligned. So far so good and glad I bought it. 👍 All the best, regards Chris.

My front grass is rye which works well, gets plenty of sun all year round and the soil drains well. Put bent/fescue in the back because rye just died every winter, not enough sun, clay soil, not as good drainage. I just have to have scarify it now and again.

Nice video thank you.. How do you get your lines straight after the first straight one as on the Hawk you can follow the front wheels but obviously can't on the Cambridge? Thanks

Was a tad tricky at first as like you said, can't use the wheels. You can just see the edge of the front roller beside the grass box. I use that to stay in line.

Not many novice gardeners with a £2000 lawnmower. May have to rename the channel mate.
